Exciting Apprentice Opportunity:
V8 Supercars Event - Triple 8 Racing Team Pitt Crew

Apprenticeships Are Us' apprentice Evan Lean was selected to attend a four day V8 Supercar Experience at the Eastern Creek race track to assist the Vortex Triple 8 Racing Team in the Pitt Crew.

Evan had the opportunity to assist with duties such as:
- Cleaning the pitt crew bay
- Stocking the fridge
- Stocking promotional posters
- Selecting tyres for practice, qualifying and race laps
- Cleaning wheels in preparation for races

Evan was also lucky enough to be offered a Hot Lap in the car and managed to get a photo with Craig Lowndes!
This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Evan and something he will remember for the rest of his life.

The Female Factor!

A group of 10 completed an Automotive Industry MIP in Preston, Melbourne. Several gained apprenticeships, and two of these are the only two females in the group; Jessica and Prtibha.

Jessica joined classmate, Terry, at Subaru Docklands in Light Automotive soon after completing.
Prtibha has a longer search in front of her; she is dedicated to following a career in Restoration. This is a very specialised area where apprenticeships are difficult to find, and the rarity makes them fiercely competitive to secure. Prtibha's home is in regional Victoria. Following her goal, she has relocated to Melbourne and has started her apprenticeship at JC Classic Cars in Mt Evelyn (an outer Eastern suburb of Melbourne).

Case Study: Our Apprentice, Terry!

Apprenticeships R Us completed a group of 10 participants in a MIP automotive industry.  Four of these participants have secured an apprenticeship!

With several great outcomes from the group, Mark of Apprenticeships R Us features the story of Terry’s achievements in their Group Project Report.

"Terry and his family moved to Australia from The Ivory Coast. He lives with his mother and four brothers. Being the eldest of five boys, Terry wants to set a good example for his younger brothers. After finishing Year 12, Terry worked at several different jobs to help his mum support the family. Now 22, Terry decided he wanted more direction, a career in something he could be proud of. With some previous exposure to Automotive, Terry knew he had an interest in cars so he started inquiring about apprenticeships. This is how Terry came across our course.  He showed great interest in learning about the different jobs available in the Automotive Industry. After an impressive, enthusiastic effort in the class room, we sent Terry to Subaru where he was able to experience several different careers available.

Terry had a very positive attitude towards the opportunity he was given and made the most of it. Subaru were very impressed with Terry and learned that he enjoyed his time in the workshop with the technicians and being around the cars. Terry was offered an apprenticeship as a Light Vehicle Mechanic at their Docklands Site, and is now a very proud member of the Subaru team.

Almost half the class enjoy Industry Sharing Information sessions the most and all gained a ‘great deal’ of practical knowledge."
