Hairdressing Apprenticeships & Traineeships

Turn your creativity and passion for people into a rewarding career!
Through a Hairdressing Apprenticeship or Traineeship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in a real salon while learning from qualified stylists.
You’ll earn while you learn, build your confidence with clients, and develop the technical and artistic skills needed to become a qualified hairdresser.

Hairdressing apprenticeships are ideal for anyone who loves fashion, creativity, and connecting with people — whether you’re just finishing school or looking to start a new career.

What You’ll Learn

During your apprenticeship or traineeship, you’ll learn skills that prepare you for all aspects of salon life, including:

  • Shampooing, blow-drying, cutting, colouring, and styling hair

  • Customer service and client communication

  • Salon safety, hygiene, and product knowledge

  • Working with different hair types and textures

  • Colour theory and modern styling techniques

  • Business basics – appointment booking, time management, and teamwork

You’ll also have the chance to develop your own creative style while working alongside industry professionals.

Qualifications

Depending on your pathway, you’ll work towards:

  • Certificate III in Hairdressing (SHB30416) – the nationally recognised qualification required to become a qualified hairdresser.

  • Certificate II in Salon Assistant (SHB20216) – ideal for traineeships or those wanting an introduction to the industry before committing to a full apprenticeship.

Both options combine formal training with real-world experience, helping you build skills and confidence from day one.
