What You’ll Learn

During your apprenticeship or traineeship, you’ll develop hands-on skills that prepare you for success in the fast-paced hospitality world, including:

  • Customer service and front-of-house operations

  • Barista training, beverage preparation, and responsible service of alcohol (RSA)

  • Food preparation, presentation, and kitchen safety

  • Working effectively in a team and managing time in a busy environment

  • Communication and problem-solving in a service setting

  • Event coordination and basic business management

You’ll gain the confidence, professionalism, and practical experience employers are looking for.

Qualifications

Depending on your role and training pathway, you’ll work towards nationally recognised qualifications such as:

  • Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30622) – ideal for front-of-house, café, or restaurant service roles

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (SIT30821) – for aspiring chefs and kitchen apprentices

  • Certificate II in Hospitality (SIT20322) – a great starting point for school leavers or trainees

Each qualification combines on-the-job training with formal study through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

  • Duration: 2–4 years (depending on qualification and experience)

  • Training Type: Apprenticeship or Traineeship (earn while you learn)

  • Study Mode: On-the-job learning + classroom or online training

  • Requirements: Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and enjoy working with people in a fast-paced environment

  • Support: Dedicated mentors, PPE (where applicable), and employer guidance provided throughout your training
